In January of 2021, in at the beginning of the COVID panic, I was 70 years old and it was said that I was a high risk for death from the virus. I was working at the jail at the time and had a high probability of exposure, so I thought it best to get the jab. That was in the very early part of the month. Then in early February, I got the second half of the "vaccination" and went on my merry way.
Then in late February, I noticed that I wasn't seeing as well as I had been. I made an appointment for early March at the eye clinic at the VA hospital. I figured I just needed new glasses.
During the March appointment, I got a new prescription for glasses and during the examination something else came up. The eye tech gave me a routine pressure check on my eyes. At first, she thought her instrument was defective, so she got another one and rechecked. Then, with a worried look on her face, she told me to wait for a moment. She left and came back with a doctor. He did the same test, then took me to some kind of machine where he checked it again.
He told me that my intraocular pressure (IOP) was twenty one which is a little high. He made an appointment for me to come back in early April -- a month later.
In April, I was subjected to at least five tests of assorted kinds on differing machines. Then the doctor sat me down and showed me a screen with colored circles and a lot of numbers which I did not understand. He told me that my IOP was now 25 and that I have Glaucoma. He told me that I would be losing my peripheral vision little by little and that eventually I would be looking through a small tunnel . . . like looking through a drinking straw. "Then," he said, "the curtain will close."
The bottom line was that there is no cure, they can only slow it down. Eventually, assuming I live long enough, I will be completely blind.
Was this a result of the Moderna COVID jab? There is no way of knowing, but I suspect it may be.
Below is a timeline of the progression of my eyesight:
March, 2021: IOP high; 21
April, 2021: IOP higher; 25 Diagnosed with Glaucoma and Catatacts
May, 2021: Stopped using Latanaprost eye drops due to allergic reaction. No other treatment was prescribed. Doctor told me to just keep using them even though they cause difficulty breathing. I Stopped using VA Eye Clinic.
~June, 2021: Eyes getting dry and gooey, crusty sick-cat eyes.
~August, 2021: Halos and star-glare from bright lights. Also photosensitivity and double vision, especially bad looking to the right at distance with both eyes open.
August, 2022: Dry eyes/photosensitvity have progressively worsened, vision is blurrier.
September, 2022: Fail to see small items when searching for them. (Blind spots?)
October, 2022: Blurry patches in central vision, especially lower central vision. All other symptoms stable to slightly worse.
October, 2022 I started practicing using a white cane and cannot see the tip of my cane when looking straight ahead (walking). I need more light to see now even though bright light hurts my eyes. Also, I seem to be getting a bit of night blindness. All very puzzling.
November, 2022 Wierd, but eyelashes (both eyes) are hanging down into my field of vision causing blurred vision in lines. Also, increase in floaters. Dry eyes remain. I am using a magnifying glass to read print on paper.
December, 2022 I have started learning Braille, I am almost finished with the letters and am about to start on numbers. It is HARD.
One thing to note is that I do not notice much loss of peripheral vision (although they do say that it usually not noticed until the advanced stages of the disease).
